- This flat quick coupling is a 3/8″ body 1/2 BSP thread. It is a custom-made coupling for a specific customer. The design is closer to that of the DNP. Some dimensions have been changed to suit the customer’s needs. It is used on one brand of hydraulic equipment. This quick release coupling conforms to ISO 16028 and can be interchanged half to half with any other brand of quick release coupling conforming to the same standard.
- The flat face quick coupling connection method has several advantages over other quick coupling connection methods. While a flat face quick coupling is connecting, the connection point of the quick coupling is inside the male end when the valve is open. When the valve is disconnected, the valve on the male side will close. The body surface of the valve and the quick coupling are flat. This results in very little fluid loss during insertion and removal. Since the valve is a flat surface, it is not easy for foreign objects to enter the fluid circuit. In case of disconnection of the flat quick coupling, it is also easy to clean.
- The valve of a flat face quick coupling is much more sophisticated than a common poppet or ball valve, and when the flat quick coupling is connected, the valves at both ends open automatically, allowing the fluid circuit to be connected. When the flat quick coupling is disconnected, the valves at both ends close automatically so that the fluid does not leak.
- This flat face quick coupling is used for hydraulic equipment, and is a brand-named equipment quick coupling. The fluid is hydraulic oil. The working pressure is 4000-6000 PSI, so the body material of this quick coupling is carbon steel. Carbon steel is much better than stainless steel or brass in terms of working pressure, burst pressure, and other parameters. Therefore, in most cases where high working pressures are required, carbon steel is the material of choice for quick-release couplings. The surface is plated with Zn-Ni alloy. This provides better corrosion protection than the common Zn plated coating.
- The default seal material is NBR because it is used in applications where the fluid is hydraulic fluid. If the fluid material in your application is a chemical fluid, or the operating temperature is above 120˚C, FKM or FFKM can be used as an alternative.
- The thread of this flat face quick-release coupling is BSPP 1/2, British Pipe Thread Parallel. The British Pipe Thread is a common thread style used in the European market and is also used in many Asian countries.
- This flat face quick coupling complies with the ISO 16028 standard and is interchangeable with other brands of half to half quick release couplings that comply with this standard. It is important to note that interchangeability refers to the size of the connection, but the difference needs to be distinguished. The material of the body of the quick-release coupling will cause a difference in working pressure, and the different threads will cause a difference in the connection of the hydraulic hose.
